West Somerset Railway

Blue Anchor Station is only 50 yards from Merlin House. Take the steam train as far as Bishop's Lydeard near Taunton, or to Minehead. Special events are held throughout the year, including Steam Railway Gala events in March and October, Thomas the Tank Engine week in July, Cream tea specials and loads more.

There are 2 pubs, both within walking distance:

The Smugglers Inn: Open all year, has excellent freshly, locally sourced food, served in its cosy Cellar Bar, a-la-carte restaurant or garden. The Blue Anchor Inn also serves food all day.

The Driftwood Café: A 1930's style café offering excellent home cooked food and a great all day breakfast.

There is a general store, also on the Hobourne site, selling everything from milk to fishing bait and newspapers.

Home Farm: Blue Anchor Bay Park Shop is situated at Home Farm, a small working farm with many animals and a tea room serving wonderful home-made cakes and cream teas. They also have a car boot sale every Saturday during the summer.

Annual Raft Race

This is held in August where entrants from all over the country compete.

Local foods/ Farmers Markets

West Somerset farmers Market is held in The Parade, Minehead every Friday.
